Sharyn Smart
Freelance photo journalist and real life writer.
Photography is a HUGE part of my life and I really enjoy taking landscape shots.
Meeting inspiring people and sharing their stories is a huge passion. Being able to combine my love for photography with my writing is wonderful.
I love spending time at the beach meeting people, taking photos or just walking along listening to the waves which I call my “medicine”.
I enjoy walking, scrapbooking, reading and of course talking!
I am mother to two young adults who most days I love dearly. Our home is lovingly called “the Smart Circus” as we welcome in family and friends.
Over the years I have self-published two children’s books with more in the pipe-line.
I have written for various magazines with work published in Live Magazine, Next Magazine and Kids Friendly (electronic magazine).
In 2013 I went back to school and completed a National Diploma in Journalism (Multi-Media) Level 5.
I have had articles published in the Daily News and MidWeek.
2013 to 2015 I followed the Good Home Taranaki MountainAirs basketball team covering their home games for NZ Hoops.
In 2017 I completed a National Diploma in Photography. I also started selling crafts made with my photographs online and through the local markets.
If you have a real life story to be shared to help others please send me a short summary of your story.
