New Plymouth photographer Helen Wilkin is part of a small group of New Zealand and Australian photographers who are working together to raise funds for the Women’s Cancer Foundation. They are capturing the loving connection between mother and daughter.
“It’s so important to capture these moments while we can. We just don’t know what will happen in the future and if we will ever get this opportunity again,” said Wilkin owner of Helenjoy Photography.
While photographers are donating their talents and time a participation fee of $51is going directly to the Women’s Cancer Foundation.
Funds raised will be used to help lessen the impact of gynaecological cancers on our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, wives and friends.
Helenjoy Photography is honoured to be donating skills and time for this worthwhile fundraising initiative.
“I met a lovely young lady Olivia Madgwick when she came for her preplanning session. She shared her own journey of battling cancer.
“Together we decided that she would share her journey with everyone in order to encourage other women to get on board and have these moments captured to raise much needed funds for the Women’s Cancer Foundation.”
In 2015 Olivia was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a rare type of brain cancer which resulted in a large tumour forming on her brain stem.
“I am in remission now. All my symptoms are slowly coming back to normal.”
The vibrant, bubbly young lady has a huge contagious smile and an amazing positive attitude.
“I always smile I just can’t frown. I’m still here I haven’t changed. I think that is what people don’t understand.”
“I never judge people but always see past people’s appearance and focus on their personality.
“I want Helen to capture my life returning and to have mum share that moment with me is very special.”
